Ship Ahoy!

Once in awhile there is a movie that is based on a true story that reminds us that truth is really stranger than fiction and that when people are pushed to be their best selves, they are astonishing.

This evening my friend Diane and I were rocked by the waves of a seafaring storm in 1952 that was so gigantic that they tore two oil tankers in half and following orders to rescue the crew of one of them outside a Boston coastline, a courageous young coast guard who knew the water like his own back yard risked his own life and those of three other men in a small boat, did just that.

They brought themselves and 32 survivors safely back to port.
